For a brief, dizzying time she finds herself at the mercy of the swashbuckling captain -- and shoots him to protect her virtue.
Although Caroline arrives safely in New Orleans, she finds that the gentleman-owner of the bayou mansion bears a striking resemblance to the amorous pirate. And soon she realizes that the captain has stolen more than just gold and jewels...he's also stolen her heart.

Sweet Piracy edition by Jennifer Blake Romance eBooks Reviews
Sweet Piracy is a romantic novel set during the early 1800's. The heroine is Carolyn Pembroke the governerness to a French Creole family in New Orleans. There is only one episode dealing with pirates on the high seas. The rest of the story deals with Carolyn, her French Creole charges and the dashing Jean, Marquis of Roquefort. It was a refreshing historical romantic book.
I thought this story had pirates. This story does not have pirates, it alludes to a piratical incident but that's about it.
Pirates or no this story was actually pretty nice. It's not going to win any awards or cause any introspective debates within yourself but it passes the time and in the end you aren't sad about wasting a few hours reading it. It's cute, the characters are entertaining, and everyone lives happily ever after.
I liked this book. It has a nice storyline, believable characters and the story has a nice flow to it. It is a story with nothing in the way of steamy scenes, in fact the only thing that happens is a kiss. Yet it is still a very romantic story. I liked the girls in the story who were very normal girls who seemed to get into a lot of trouble. It was nice to read a good old-fashioned romance. I love the end of the story, it did not disappoint me. A rare thing these days.
In this book, you will be transported to Southern Louisiana in the early 1800's. A time where propriety was observed for the sake of appearances and one's reputation. Jennifer Blake writes this book in the verbiage of that area which meant an authenticity to the romance between Caroline and Jean! Caroline is an orphaned, penniless heiress who was forced into accepting a position in the household of a distant relative as their govetness. Jean is a Marquis who became a privateer during the war. Although, this story does not take place on the seas amongst riotous pirates, it is a story about stealing one's heart! I loved it!!
the story was very exciting but very clean all at the same time. I like exciting adventurist books about swashbucklers with romance in it and even a few stolen kisses as long as the author, does not describe body parts and go into detail of sex. it is not necessary to expound on minute detail on how they kiss, what they do with their tongue and where they put their hands and what they do in the bed room or describe the intimate body parts, in order to write a fascinating, and exciting romance novel. That is why I love this books very much. I wish that I could find more like it.the sad thing is these kinds of book are hard to find.
This book starts out with more promise. Jennifer does a good job with the characterization. But the story line just never heats up. I think that is the best way to put it. It starts out great when the ship Caroline is on gets boarded and ransacked by the handsome privateer from the Black Eagle. She shoots him accidentally in defense, surprising even herself. He never attempts to ravish her, as other pirate/ privateer types might, but instead, posts a guard at her door. Months afterwards, in disguise, he moves into the abandoned plantation next-door, becoming neighbors in a quiet attempt to make her his. The storyline of their pursuit is a little dull. Only one off-handed comment is made about his injury- she never finds out that the injury that he took in good grace nearly cost him his life. Naturally, they get together suddenly at the end as she begins to realize her affections and by the same token piece together who he really is. But by then, you are ready for the story to end and see them ride off into the sunset-which is exactly what they do.
I tried, I really did. I did not see the back story here. How did these two end up falling in love? This story had great potential, but needed much more back story and development to truly work as a great novel. You never learned what happened on that ship why the heroine and hero fell in love the first time to lead to the present situation of him finding her in Louisiana. Such a shame! Would have been a great story....
